South Node
The South Node represents your past-life karma, innate talents, and comfort zone, pointing to patterns you may outgrow.
The South Node (also called the Lunar South Node or Ketu) is not a planet but a mathematical point where the Moon's orbit crosses the ecliptic. In astrology, it represents your karmic past—the skills, habits, and tendencies you bring from previous lifetimes. It shows what comes naturally to you, but also where you may get stuck if you rely too heavily on those patterns.
How it works
In your natal chart, the South Node is always opposite the North Node, forming an axis across two zodiac signs and houses. Its sign and house reveal the qualities you've already mastered. For example, a South Node in Aries suggests a past life of independence and assertiveness, while a South Node in the 10th house indicates comfort with career and public recognition. The South Node's aspects to planets can amplify or challenge its influence.
In practice
When interpreting the South Node, notice the contrast with the North Node. The South Node is your default setting—the easy path. But growth comes from leaning into the North Node's direction. If you find yourself repeating old patterns or feeling overly comfortable, the South Node is at play. It's not "bad"; it's a foundation to build from, not a destination.
