Frequently asked questions
Is this just sun-sign matching?
No — we compare both full natal charts. Sun sign is one data point out of fourteen. Real synastry looks at Moon-to-Moon, Venus-to-Mars, Saturn-to-Sun and a dozen other aspects between you. Two "Aries × Leo" pairs can have totally different real compatibility because their Moons, Venuses, and Saturns sit in different signs and form different aspects.
What if I don't know their birth time?
You can still compute compatibility — the Sun, Moon and personal planets are accurate enough that the five scores remain meaningful. Astraly marks angle-dependent placements (their Ascendant, their houses) as approximate so the AI doesn't lean on them for high-confidence claims.
Can I check compatibility with friends and family, not just romantic partners?
Yes. The same synastry calculations apply to any pair of charts — best friends, business partners, parents, siblings. The "attraction" score is romance-specific, but the other four (emotional closeness, communication, growth, overall lad) apply universally. The AI astrologer adjusts its reading to the relation you specify.
How accurate are the scores?
Each score is computed from a weighted set of synastry aspects (e.g. Sun-Moon harmony, Venus-Mars chemistry, Saturn weight) with orbs taken from classical synastry conventions. The math is deterministic — two people running the same chart pair will see the same scores. The interpretation prose is from the AI, grounded in those numbers.
Is the other person's data private?
Their chart lives only in your account and isn't shared with them or anyone else. They aren't notified you added them; we don't email them. If you want to share the result, there's a Share button — that produces a public read-only link with their name visible, so use it consciously.
Is it free?
Building any chart is free, and the five compatibility scores are free for every pair you add. The AI deep-readings of a synastry are included with daily token allowance on the free tier; paid plans unlock unlimited synastry conversations.
How is this different from Lalith / The Pattern apps?
The Pattern compares personality archetypes derived from chart data — it's a personality-overlay tool, not a synastry tool. Astraly does the actual synastry math (cross-chart aspects, orbs, weightings used by professional astrologers) and then layers AI interpretation on top, so you get the analytical depth of a Solar-Fire synastry report with the readability of a conversation.
