Disseminating Moon

The Disseminating Moon is the phase after the Full Moon, when the Moon wanes and the light begins to decrease.

The Disseminating Moon is the lunar phase that follows the Full Moon. During this phase, the Moon is waning (decreasing in light) and has moved between 135 and 180 degrees ahead of the Sun. The term "disseminating" comes from the Latin for "to spread" — it's a time of sharing what you've learned or harvested during the Full Moon.

How it works

In a natal chart, the Disseminating Moon occurs when someone is born within about 3.5 to 7 days after a Full Moon. The Moon is in a waning gibbous shape, still large and bright but shrinking. Astrologically, this phase suggests a personality that naturally wants to communicate, teach, or distribute information. The energy is outward but reflective — you've had your full-moon realization and now you're ready to pass it on.

In practice

If you have a Disseminating Moon in your birth chart, you may find that you learn best by teaching others. You might feel a pull to share your insights through writing, speaking, or mentoring. During a Disseminating Moon transit (which occurs monthly for everyone), it's a good time to review projects, edit work, or share what you've accomplished. Avoid starting new initiatives — this phase favors completion and distribution over initiation.
