Sun Sign
The zodiac sign the Sun was in at your birth, representing your core identity and ego.
Your Sun Sign is the zodiac sign where the Sun was located at the moment of your birth. It is the most widely known astrological placement — the one you see in daily horoscopes. The Sun represents your core self, ego, conscious will, and fundamental identity. It shows what drives you, what you are here to become, and the qualities you are learning to express.
How it works
In a natal chart, the Sun moves through all twelve signs over the course of a year, spending about one month in each. To find your Sun Sign, you need your birth date (and ideally birth time and location for the full chart). For example, if you were born on April 10, your Sun is in Aries. The Sun’s sign colors your basic personality: an Aries Sun tends to be bold and initiating, while a Taurus Sun is steady and grounded. The house the Sun occupies in your chart shows the area of life where you shine and seek recognition.
In practice
When reading a chart, the Sun Sign is the starting point. It describes your conscious self and the path of self-development. However, it is only one piece — the Moon, rising sign, and planetary aspects add depth. For example, a Leo Sun with a Pisces Moon may feel torn between wanting attention and needing solitude. In compatibility, Sun signs get along or clash based on element (fire, earth, air, water) and modality (cardinal, fixed, mutable).
