The New Moon in Aries is exact on April 17, 2026 at 7:52 AM EDT, at 27°29′ Aries. It favours fresh starts, brave first steps and putting your own goals first for a change. No planet aspects it closely, so the sign itself sets the tone. Start small; it builds for two weeks.

What it means

Aries is the first sign of the zodiac, so a New Moon here carries an extra sense of beginning. It asks what you would start if you trusted yourself, and it rewards direct action: the email you send first, the training plan you begin today, the decision you stop postponing.

The shadow side of Aries is impatience. Start, but start small enough to keep going. The energy is high for a few days and drops if you try to do everything at once.

A New Moon happens when the Moon and Sun meet in the same degree. The Moon is dark, and in astrology it marks the start of a monthly cycle: a quiet moment to choose a direction, set an intention or start something small. Results build over the next two weeks, up to the Full Moon in the same half of the zodiac's story. You do not need a ritual — a clear sentence about what you want to grow is enough.

Mars, the traditional ruler of Aries, is at 5°58′ Aries at the moment of the New Moon. The house it falls in for you is where this lunation turns practical — see "by rising sign" below.

Lunations in the same sign come in pairs about six months apart. What you start at this New Moon reaches its peak at the Full Moon in Aries on September 26, 2026, at 3°37′ Aries — a natural checkpoint for whatever you set in motion now.
