An astrologer is someone who studies and interprets the positions and movements of celestial bodies—planets, the Sun, the Moon, and points like the Ascendant—as a symbolic language. Rather than predicting fixed events, an astrologer helps you explore patterns, timing, and personal themes through your birth chart and current transits.

How it works

An astrologer begins by calculating a natal chart based on your exact birth date, time, and location. This chart maps where each planet was at your moment of birth, divided into twelve houses and marked with aspects (angles between planets). The astrologer then synthesises these elements: for example, a Sun in Leo in the 10th house might suggest a drive for recognition in career, while a Moon in Pisces in the 4th could indicate deep emotional sensitivity around home. Modern astrologers often use software to generate charts, but the interpretation remains a blend of knowledge, intuition, and pattern recognition.

In practice

When you consult an astrologer, they will typically ask what you want to explore—relationships, career, personal growth, or a specific question. They may look at your natal chart, current transits (where planets are now relative to your chart), or compare charts for compatibility (synastry). A good astrologer avoids fatalistic language; instead, they describe tendencies and possibilities. For instance, they might say, “With Mars squaring your Venus, you may feel tension between action and harmony in relationships—notice how you handle conflict this week.” The goal is self-reflection, not fortune-telling.
