In astrology, a mode (also called a quality or quadruplicity) describes the way a zodiac sign expresses its energy. There are three modes: cardinal, fixed, and mutable. Each mode represents a different style of action, response, and adaptation. The mode also interacts with transits: a cardinal-heavy chart responds strongly to cardinal transits (like the cardinal grand cross in 2025), while fixed-dominant people feel fixed transits more deeply.
