Stellium

A stellium occurs when three or more planets cluster in the same zodiac sign or house, intensifying that area of life.

A stellium is a concentration of three or more planets within the same zodiac sign or house in a natal chart. This grouping amplifies the energy of that sign and house, making its themes a dominant focus in the person's life. Stelliums are rare and often indicate a strong, specialized personality or life path.

How it works

In a natal chart, a stellium is identified when at least three planets (including the Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, or Pluto) occupy the same sign or house. The closer the planets are in degree, the more intense the effect. For example, three planets in Aries in the 10th house can suggest a driven, ambitious person who leads in their career. The sign gives the flavor, and the house shows the life area. Outer planets (Uranus, Neptune, Pluto) can be part of a stellium but often have a generational influence.

In practice

When interpreting a stellium, note the sign and house first. The stellium's ruler (the planet ruling that sign) is especially important. Also consider aspects between stellium planets — they can create internal tension or harmony. A stellium can indicate a talent or challenge that the person must integrate. It often shows where life feels "full" or where the person has many experiences. For example, a 7th house stellium might bring many relationships or a strong focus on partnerships.
