Natal Chart

A natal chart is a snapshot of the sky at your exact birth moment, used in astrology to map your personality and life themes.

A natal chart, also known as a birth chart, is a map of the heavens at the precise time and place you were born. It shows the positions of the Sun, Moon, planets, and other celestial points relative to Earth. Astrologers use this chart as a symbolic blueprint of your personality, strengths, challenges, and life patterns.

How it works

To create a natal chart, you need your birth date, exact time, and location. The chart is divided into 12 houses, each representing a different life area (e.g., career, relationships). The zodiac signs mark where each planet was located. Aspects—angles between planets—reveal how those energies interact. For example, a Sun in Leo in the 10th house might suggest a confident public figure. The rising sign (Ascendant) sets the chart's starting point and influences your outward style.

In practice

When reading a natal chart, start with the Sun, Moon, and Ascendant (the Big Three). The Sun reflects your core identity, the Moon your emotional nature, and the Ascendant how others see you. Then look at personal planets (Mercury, Venus, Mars) for communication, love, and drive. Finally, examine outer planets (Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto) for deeper life themes. Aspects like conjunctions or squares show where energies flow smoothly or clash.
